The Sound of El Squid Roe

Since 1989 — the loudest, most famous soundtrack on the Marina in Downtown Cabo.

The music is the whole point. For over three decades, El Squid Roe has run on one simple law — whatever gets the room off the floor and onto the bar. It's never been about one genre; it's about the next song hitting harder than the last.

From Vinyl to the Cloud

When El Squid Roe opened its doors in Los Cabos in 1989, the sound came straight off the West Coast. Touring DJs flew in from California and Baja with crates of vinyl under their arms, spinning imported records you couldn't hear anywhere else in Mexico. As the internet made music global, so did we — every format the world moved through, we moved through with it.

  1. 1989
    Vinyl

West-Coast DJs hauled crates of 12-inch records down to Cabo — the imported sound that made ESR an instant landmark.

  2. 1990s
    Tapes & Cassettes

Mixtapes and cassette sets passed hand to hand — the DJ's edge was the tracks nobody else had.

  3. 2000s
    CDs & CDJs

Binders of CDs and the first CDJ decks — faster mixing, deeper crates, louder nights.

  4. 2010s
    Hard Drives & USB

The whole record collection shrank onto a hard drive and a USB stick — decades of music in a pocket.

  5. Today
    Streaming

The internet went global and so did the floor — our live sound now pulls from everything, everywhere, all at once.

What You'll Hear

No two nights are identical, but the DNA is constant — party anthems that everyone knows the words to, mixed with the beats that keep three floors moving. Here's the flavor:

Throwback Hip-Hop & Crunk

The floor-fillers everyone still shouts — Get Low, Shots, Teach Me How to Dougie, Wobble.

EDM & Festival Anthems

Big-room drops from David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Tiësto, Showtek, Deorro and Timmy Trumpet.

Reggaetón & Latin

Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Farruko and Pitbull keeping the Baja heat on.

Pop Bangers

Beyoncé, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Fifth Harmony — the sing-every-word moments.
